I always find it amusing when celebs are called out for wearing bootlegged stuff…
The May issue of XXL magazine featuring Rick Ross on the cover shows him wearing a pair of Louis Vuitton sunglasses. A spokesperson for the luxury-goods maker recently contacted the magazine to inform them that the sunglasses were counterfeit. The letter reads as follows:
Dear Editor:
We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.
The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to correct the confusion.
Sincerely,
Michael D. Pantalony, Esq.
Louis Vuitton Malletier

If I actually cared about my cell phone, I’d be copping this to protect it. But I don’t, so I won’t. It’s a nice case, anyway.

Alert your inner child! Star Wars Weekends is this week. I had never heard of this event before. It’s an annual summer event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida that celebrates all things Star Wars. Although I can’t make it, I would love to go. I’m a huge fan of Boba Fett and Darth Vader. Yoda, too.
As a consolation, I’ll just have to enjoy the Promotional Posters for this year’s event as well as from years past. They’re simply awesome.

It’s no secret that I love to travel, and I’m always discovering places I haven’t been to before that I want to visit. One of my goals in life is to visit all seven continents (I am 4/7 of the way there), and unfamiliar territory does not frighten me, instead it excites me. I love the Travel Channel and watch it religiously to learn about the unbounded attraction of foreign lands and cultures, despite the fact that many of their show’s hosts irritate me to no end.
So today will mark the first entry in a series I will call “I Wish I Was…” In it, I will publish a place where I wish I was at this very moment due to some facet that makes it appealing. So basically, whenever I run across somewhere magnificent that I wish I was, I’m going to share it. Knowing how often I dream of being somewhere else, expect to see these fairly often!
Onto today’s installment…
Jade Mountain, Soufrière, St. Lucia, 758-459-4000, http://www.jademountainstlucia.com
Jade Mountain is an eco-luxury resort on St. Lucia’s west coast. Designed by owner Nick Troubetzkoy, this stone resort is built into the side of a mountain, overlooking St. Lucia’s famous twin Piton peaks and the Caribbean Sea. Each suite, appropriately called a sanctuary, is missing its fourth wall, thereby staying open to the elements and achieving oneness with nature. All rooms boast 15 foot ceilings, are reached by a private stone walkway, and feature private infinity pools surfaced in iridescent glass tiles and illuminated with fiber-optic lighting. Guests are granted their own “major-domo” to take care of any needs or whims during their visit. The resort takes the low-tech approach seriously: there are no phones, televisions or radios in any of the rooms. Named #1 on the Travel Channel’s 21 Hottest Caribbean Escapes, Jade Mountain is truly a sanctuary rather than a hotel.
I will allow the pictures to speak for themselves. Prepare for your jaw to drop…

Another day, another chair.

When I first saw this, I thought that either it was a flawed design, or that the designer was a scientist who had managed to defy the laws of physics. In actuality, the Shadow Chair makes use of an optical illusion. Can you figure it out?

Lately I’ve been posting a lot of fine automobiles. Today I’m showing the opposite end of the spectrum.

No, your eyes do not deceive you. That is a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe customized in a multicolored Louis Vuitton Murakami monogram pattern. Who is responsible for this monstrosity, you ask? The offender’s name is Prince Marcus von Anhalt. I hadn’t heard of this guy, so I did some research and gleaned some fascinating info about him and his douchebaggedness.

First of all, he’s not a real prince. He acquired that title by paying Zsa Zsa Gabor and her ninth husband Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt millions of Euros to adopt him (he had been a butcher previously). He is the self-proclaimed “Prinz Germany,” carries a staff of 12 bodyguards and 25 servants, and his current occupation is owning and operating over 20 brothels in Germany.
Also, he did some jail time for tax evasion and human trafficking. This dude looks to be a prime example that, no matter how much dough you’ve got, you can’t buy class. And from the looks of these pictures, his perpetual crime is against good taste.

Dear Santa,
I have been a good boy this year. At least most of the time. Please bring me a one of these for Christmas.

I heart Virgin Airlines. They offer so many amenities that other airlines just can’t compete with – that crazy mood lighting that makes you feel like you’re in a lounge, great entertainment (satellite TV, streaming radio stations, thousands of MP3s that you can create your own playlist from, recently released movies on demand), positive customer service, comfy seats, seat to seat chatting and complimentary headphones. Not to mention having the cutest and nicest stewardesses (or should I say, “flight attendants,” in the sake of being PC?).
I also appreciate the fact that they are experimenting with alternative jet fuels based on palm tree oil in the interest of greener travel.
And I would be remiss in not mentioning that Virgin’s CEO, Richard Branson, is my hero.
He’s the 236th richest person according to Forbes’ 2008 list of billionaires, with an estimated net worth of approximately $2.4 Billion. Yet with all that wealth, he’s not above performing daredevil stunts to bring his company some publicity.
And in his spare time, he does stuff like this:

That pic was taken in a photo shoot off the coast of Necker, a private Caribbean island that Branson owns. The girl, by the way, is model Denni Parkinson. She’s his girlfriend. She’s 22 years old. Branson is 58. Now that’s pimpin.
